Why Breast Enhancement or Augmentation
Breast enhancement may be of interest to you if you
feel that having smaller breasts limits what fashions
you can wear and have difficulty finding proportional
clothing to flatter your figure.
You believe that having a small breast size creates a
negative impression and they make you feel un-
comfortably self-conscious.
You have lost an excessive amount of weight and
consequently your breasts have lost size and shape.
Your breasts are sagging and have lost firmness, and you
need augmentation as part of a breast lift procedure
Your pregnancy has changed your breast volume
and shape.
You have significantly asymmetric breasts and
seek balance. |
Generally, you must be fully developed, physically and emotionally healthy, and have realistic expectations of your surgery.
Your Initial Breast Enhancement and Augmentation Consultation
During your initial breast enhancement consultation, you will meet with Dr. Steely and his staff to discuss your goals. They will review your medical history and they may take photographs (the “before” shots) as part of your medical record. Dr. Steely will examine your breasts, evaluate their size and shape, the elasticity of the skin and where nipples are located. Based on his findings and your goals, he will determine which surgical technique will benefit you the most. Also, Dr. Steely will review the risks associated with breast enhancement surgery and address your expectations. Of course, feel free to ask any questions you may have at this time. |

During Breast Enhancement and Augmentation Surgery
During breast enhancement surgery, you will require anesthesia – after all it is a surgical procedure. Dr. Steely will make small incisions to allow entry for the breast implants. The implants are placed either partially under the pectoral muscle or on top of the muscle and under the breast glands, depending on the thickness of your tissue and its ability to adequately cover the implant. The breast enhancement procedure usually takes one hour. Most patients choose to go home the same day as surgery.
Breast Implants
Depending on your needs, body shape and breast anatomy, Dr. Steely may use either saline or silicone implants. Both types are approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and come in a variety of shapes, surface textures and sizes, depending on the breast shape to be achieved.
