Breast Reduction, also known as reduction mammoplasty, is performed to reduce the size, weight, and strain of overly large breasts. Women with disproportionately large breasts often experience discomfort and pain on a daily basis from the excess weight in the chest and from indentations from bras. The breast reduction procedure is performed under anesthesia using one of three different incision options depending on the amount of reduction being performed.

After the incision is made the nipple may be repositioned (while remaining intact to the nerve and blood supply) and the breast tissue lifted, reduced, and shaped. Lastly, the incisions are sutured closed and bandaged.
